Nutritional medicine
Nutritional medicine is a multidisciplinary medical discipline that seeks to exploit current scientific knowledge on the physiology and pathophysiology of human nutrition for the prevention, cure and alleviation of disease.
Nutritional medicine deals with the research of nutritional knowledge, the development of nutritional applications and the establishment of these findings in all branches of medicine. Nutrition is understood on the one hand as a supply of the healthy or patients with macronutrients - carbohydrates, fats, protein and micronutrients - vitamins and trace elements -, on the other hand also as nutritional intervention, i.e. therapeutic procedures.
